Our Story

Our passion for the deli business was born from the desire to serve delicious fresh foods the way you remember it as a kid. And for those that didn't have a neighborhood deli as a kid, our desire for those folk is to get to experience a deli business the way you want it to be…fresh, friendly and delicious! Since 2001, Smallman Street Deli in the Strip District has been serving Jewish style deli foods to the people of Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities. It all started in 1995, when a local businessman wanted to buy a business, Weiss Provisions, which manufactured corned beef, roast beef and pastrami. That business started producing all of those flavorful items, back in 1958. From that acquisition grew the opportunity to sell products on a retail level. And since then, the deli continues to make homemade soups daily, including Matzo Ball and Chicken Noodle Soup and you can still buy corned beef with the same recipe that was established over six decades ago.
